The New
York State Therapeutic Recreation Association (NYSTRA)
supports and promotes the highest standards of Therapeutic
Recreation practice. It unites and provides a voice, individually
and collectively, to those engaged in the delivery of Therapeutic
Recreation Services within New York state.
NYSTRA
was founded with the belief that the provision of Therapeutic
Recreation Services is essential to the quality of life
and the quality of care of individuals receiving health
and human services.
NYSTRA
was founded in 1994 by a group of dedicated, experienced
therapeutic recreation professionals whose goal was to unite
the TR profession in New York State into a single organization
with its total resources and energies devoted solely to
the promotion of Therapeutic Recreation.
By
joining NYSTRA
you become a member in the only organization in
New York State where your dues go exclusively to
TR activities. These activities are determined by
you, the membership. NYSTRA
gives full and equal membership to all who join, from any
sector of TR practice, giving representation to the diversity
of our field.
